First vintage produced: 2008 Production area: contrada Moganazzi, municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia (Catania) Varietal: 100% Nerello mascalese Extension of the vineyard: 2 has Yield per hectare: 5 ton/ha Soil characteristics: deep, soft with volcanic ash mixed with small stones in the first metre then a deep layer of rocks composed of volcanic pumice and basalt Exposure: northern slope of Etna, 700-750 metres a.s.l. Average age of vines: between 70 and 80 years old Type of cultivation: sapling Grape harvest: second ten days of October Vinification: alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature (28-30° C). Bottled after 14 months in wood, mainly barriques.
