Red wine - Torre Rosazza - Merlot Friuli grave doc Format: Glass bottle 75cl Torre Rosazza - Merlot Friuli grave doc - Data sheet Grapes: Merlot Grape yield: 80 qli/ha Origin: Friuli Grave Spilimbergo from 24-year-old vines Altitude: 130 m asl Breeding method: Sylvoz Planting density: 3,300 plants/hectare Refinement: 4 months in concrete tanks Vintage: 2023 – First vintage: 1997 Analytical data: Alcohol 13% vol - Acidity Tot 5.5 g/l Longevity: 4/5 years Land: Soil of alluvial origin, characterised by a first surface layer resting on a second layer of pebbles of varying size, of limestone and dolomite origin, a rock composed of calcium carbonate and magnesium. The texture is sandy and the pebbles ('graves' in French) guarantee a high temperature range between day and night that enhances the aromas, fragrances and elegance of the grapes. The temperate climate is favourably affected by the presence of the Friulian Dolomites, which provide shelter from the cold northern winds and facilitate the mitigating effect of the Adriatic Sea to the south. Vinification: Harvested in the first weeks of September, the destemmed grapes are crushed and the skins macerate on the must at a controlled temperature of between 25 and 28° C for 5-6 days. After vinification and malolactic fermentation, the wine is matured in cement vats for 4 months. Tasting: The colour is deep, intense ruby red. The nose is complex, with clear hints of red jam, strawberry and hints of incense. In the mouth it is soft, well-balanced and full-bodied with rounded tannins. Combinations: It goes well with traditional Friulian cured meats, and is also excellent on first courses or on delicate meats and fresh or medium-aged cheeses. Recommended serving temperature: 18° C.
