Red wine - Bricco dei guazzi - La presidenta rosso Monferrato doc Format: Glass bottle 75cl Red wine - Bricco dei guazzi - La presidenta rosso Monferrato doc - Data sheet Grapes: Barbera and Merlot Grape yield: 70-80 qli/ha Origin: Monferrato alessandrino - Olivola, from 15-20 year-old vines Altitude: 150 to 250 m asl Breeding method: Simple Guyot Planting density: 5,000 plants/hectare Refinement: 12 months in barrique, at least 6 months in bottle Vintage: 2021 – First vintage: 2005 Analytical data: Alcohol 15.5% vol - Total acidity 6 g/l Longevity: 7-8 years Land: Merlot: cultivated in the Angolo vineyard with north-west exposure and characterised by an alternation of white marl with areas of soil richer in iron and clay that give the Merlot elegance and finesse. Barbera: cultivated in vineyards with a south-west exposure and characterised by an alternation of calcareous marl with clay and iron-rich soil. A fragrant and elegant Barbera is obtained on these slopes. Vinification: The grapes are harvested according to their respective ripening times and undergo separate alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks at a constantly controlled temperature. Once fermentation is complete, blending takes place and the wine is ready for ageing. Maturation in oak barriques for at least 12 months. After bottling, the wine undergoes further ageing in glass for 6 months. Tasting: Intense ruby red in colour, the nose immediately reveals hints of cherry jam and raspberry, with final notes of cocoa sweets. In the mouth it is imposing, with enveloping and long tannins and a freshness that balances the alcohol given by the Barbera. Combinations: Excellent on savoury red meats, it goes well with game or as an accompaniment to mature cow's milk cheeses.
